Facebook Is Building A Database To Combat Revenge Porn

Facebook is trying to crack down on revenge porn, y’all! They have teamed up with Australia’s eSafety office to build a database that will prevent harmful images from being spread throughout the internet.

This is how it works: First, you’ll upload the photos that you want to keep “private” to a special app on Facebook. The system will recognize these photos if they’re posted to either Facebook, Messenger or Instagram and will be taken down immediately.

Of course nothing is 100 percent fail proof (except Beyoncé) so there are some concerns about where the images will be stored once they’re uploaded. In addition, the system currently flags the images that are untouched, so, what happens if someone smacks a filter on them or the picture gets cropped?

As you can see they still have a lot of kinks to work out before they bring the system to the United States!
